Hunger Games actress Jennifer Lawrence stars as Elissa in the new thriller House at the 
End of the Street. In the movie, she and her newly divorced mother relocate to a rural, upper middle class town. This town has a major secret, one that is present through the ‘village freak’ Ryan (Max Thieriot). Ryan lives alone, in none other than the house at the end of the street. Elissa, naïve and empathetic towards Ryan, befriends him. Against her peers’ warnings, the two start dating. Ryan has a secret, which lives inside his stygian, dark and frightening basement. Unbeknownst to the town, this secret is behind the death of Ryan’s parents. Sounds like the typical horror film, right? Think again. “‘House at the End of the Street’ is so thoroughly unpredictable that it will even have you actively rooting for the villain and against the victims at one point. Crazy, right? The intricate plot may leave you thoroughly confused if you’ve been busy whispering back and forth with your companion. Horror movie genius Alfred Hitchcock was clearly the inspiration here,” said Critics Notebook writer Martin Tsai about the movie.
