Rising College Degrees in 2013

The new year is finally here, and seniors are preparing for graduation. However, the big question remains: Where do we go from there?  As the new year begins, new degrees and careers are rising in popularity. The following are the three highest recommended degrees that could land you a strong career in your future.

  1. Accounting

Accounting has moved up from its existing place as #2 most helpful degrees in 2012. The number of new accounting positions is estimated at roughly 190,000 for the year of 2013. As businesses begin to grow, accounting degrees will be in high demand. According to the College Board, accounting degrees teach a person how to analyze financial information and record transactions.

 

  1. Management

Business management teaches how to plan organize and direct activities for an organization. Recently, the search for consulting services has risen dramatically. With a management degree, you can be the answer that companies are looking for. According to the Department of Labor, close to 100,000 management analyst jobs will surface in 2013.

 

  1. Computer Science

Computer science is the systematic study of computers. By pursuing this major, one learns about computer programming and software design. This degree is desirable to hiring managers because of the skill set needed. As we enter into another year of the technology age, computer degrees still reign necessary for one of the highest placing careers.
