Coming into freshman year can be a very scary adventure. The new setting, schedules, and people are sometimes overwhelming. Each sophomore, junior and senior here at McAuley has gone through — and gotten through — the struggles of freshman year. Here are a few tips on how to make yours a little easier.
• Stay on top of your homework; don’t put homework off for the next day.
• Be on time to your classes; don’t come in late — you will get a conduct point.
• Learn your schedules; don’t forget which bells you do and don’t have that day.
• Stay organized the whole year; don’t throw your papers into one huge folder.
• Walk quietly through the hallways; don’t walk in packs while screaming to all of your friends.
• Use your hands in the lunch line; the trays wouldn’t help that much anyway!
• Be prepared for exams; don’t throw away any papers you are given and don’t delete any files.
• Work on projects when you are given time in class; don’t put off projects till the last day.
• Charge your tablets at home; don’t come to school with a dead tablet.
• Be open to new friendships; don’t stick to your old group of friends the whole year.
• Get involved with extracurricular activities; don’t be afraid to branch out and do new things.
• Be yourself; don’t change who you are to fit in.
• Enjoy your year; you’re only a freshman once, so make the most of it!
