Nick Goepper of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, competed in the Sochi Winter Olympics for slopestyle skiing. Goepper got his start in skiing at Perfect North when he was just five years old. Goepper showed his dedication to the sport by skiing 12 hours a day, building a skateboard park in his backyard for practice and also by selling candy bars to raise money to make his dream come true.
Goepper moved to Oregon to be a full-time professional athlete and finished high school through online courses. He recently won the gold medal in ski slopestyle at the X Games in Aspen. Goepper was predicted to medal in the Olympic slopestyle competition and went on to win the bronze. His hometown has shown their support by painting Olympic rings on the 140-foot tall Hidden Valley dam. This project was funded by donations from local fans and friends.
Since winning the medal, Goepper announced a contest to be his Valentine. One lucky winner will be hand-picked by Nick to be his Valentine based on who asks him in the most creative way. The winner gets to hang out with him for a day and go on a date. Stay tuned to see when the lucky girl is revealed after the Olympics are over.
